Prize Winner Lynn Nottage explores Brooklyn's past, present and future.
The Civilians has commissioned Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage and acclaimed composer Kirsten Childs to write a musical about the changing face of Brooklyn, sparked by the controversial Atlantic Yards development project. The play will be drawn from the raw materials gathered during the in-depth investigation process of Brooklyn at Eye Level in Fall 2008. Based on interviews with local residents and other key stakeholders in this long, drawn-out battle, and drawing from Brooklyn's rich history, this new musical will reflect on generations of community change.
